This business helps folks around the world become aware of cultural norms and how they are holding people back. From here, we gently provide awareness to potential shifts, assisting people in making choices that add to their well-being and quality of life.
We practice making these choices in order to build authentic confidence and peace.
Shorty Movement aids folks in understanding the depth within themselves, seeking self empowerment “internal validation” in order to transform. We define “internal validation” as the journey and work it takes to feel a sense of security and confidence in any circumstance, especially people, places, and/or environments that tend to trigger negative emotions such as unsettledness, anxiety, impulse/reactiveness, or fear that would normally have us shutdown.
Shorty Movement supports students, adults, and queer folks who are seeking guidance in healing and growing holistically. People who tend to excel in this this program:
1.Have hit rock bottom.
2.Aware that they’ve reached rock bottom.
3.Open and/or seeking the tools to rebuild.
Shorty Movement believes in wholistic care for everyone. The pillars that define wholistic care can be defined by:
Physical health
Mental health
Spiritual health
It is important to note each of these pillars stand strong independently; however, only when they work together will they provide higher levels of connection to the “all of it” to include: self, community, environment, and the world as a whole.
We utililize the 8 limbs of Yoga as tools to gain higher levels of awareness to the above listed pillars:
Asanas (Poses and movement)
Dhyana ( Meditation)
Pranayama (Science of breath)
Pratyahara (Sense withdrawal)
Dharana (Concentration)
Niyamas (Observance)
Samadhi (Union)
Yamas (Self-restraint)
In our work over time with many folks, we have noticed a lack of connection to spiritual health. Shorty Movement empahisizes the utility of the 2nd and/or 3rd limb of Dhyana (meditation) and Pranayama (breath) to educate & therefore, create a pathway to understanding both the importance and effects spirituality has on a human life. Moreover, enhancing the connectivity between the three pillars. Shorty Movement has a history of impacting and transforming feelings of:
Anxiousness
Depression
Impulsivity
Indecisiveness
Over-stimulation
Insecurity
Sense of detachment
Dissociation
Loneliness or feeling alone in the world
Anger
Sadness
Being lost
And, providing educational tools through the 8 limbs of Yoga to provide a sense or feelings of:
Calmness
Groundedness
Empowerment
Belonging
Improved mental, physical, and spiritual health
Connection to self and others
joyousness
Self-love
Confidence
